A gift from Coppre

Do you feel it?
That vibe
That sparkle
That excitement
That festive spirit
I do
And so does Coppre!
I blogged about Coppre last Diwali, and the lovely team behind Coppre is back on An Indian Summer, with another fabulous giveaway this Diwali. Coppre works with metal craftspeople, bringing dignity, efficiency and a contemporary sensibility to this ancient craft,by linking talented designers to craftspeople. Coppre is supported by INTACH and Forbes Marshall in this intiative.
~ The GiveAway ~
This festive season, Coppre would like to giveaway a beautiful fish platter from their new collection called ‘Vintage Inspirations’. Rashmi Ranade, the founder of Coppre and the designer for this series, draws from the influence of a trunkful of antique brass/copper utensils, puja (worship) accessories brought to India by her friend’s grandmother, from erstwhile Pakistan during partition and other objects of yore.
This fish platter can be yours, this Diwali! All you need to do:
1. Think of a creative name for this lovely platter. And leave the name as a comment right here on facebook
2. Comment on this post too with the name to double your chances
3. Cross your fingers 🙂
4. And the result will be announced on Monday, Oct 28th, with the winning name!

  1. @seemantini was travelling and just saw the announcement. Thanks a ton 🙂 What a lovely gift to look forward to. You made my weekend!

  2. Thank you for participating in the Fish Platter naming contest. We loved your entries and we've picked the 'Piscean Platter' christened by Bhumika as the name for the Fish Platter. Congratulations Bhumika!! Do send us your shipping address to coppremarketing@gmail.com. Happy Diwali!

  3. Corsica

  4. Layla is the name I have chosen for this beautiful fish platter

  5. I know, Priya! Totally!

The Coppre team is traveling after participating in the Dastkar fair in Delhi, and I, well I am just riding high on Diwali festivities :). Yet, this little fish platter demands an owner, and I am going to catch up with Coppre today and find out who the owner is. Check facebook again later in the day today.

Oh, and Happy Diwali to you, and all the other lovely folks who participated! See you next week!

This is getting ridiculous, no? If you cannot announce a winner 4 days after you said you would (and three days after your Oct. 29 comment on facebook), you probably shouldn't have a contest. Very disappointing 🙁

Hey – it's already the 29th and still no winner? What happened?

  8. Sofian Riabi

I posted on facebook, but wanted to mention here that I like The Fish Dish as a name for this cool copper plate.

  9. Meen (Matsya Rashi)

i would like to name it Fiscop – as it looks like a fish and made of copper 🙂

  11. HMMMM…."TARATI"….MEANS TO SWIM….IN SANSKRIT…RATHER THAN REFERRING IT AS A FISH…OR THE COPPER…..ITS JUST SIMPLE TO CALL IT TARATI…WHICH IS WHAT MAKES THE SHAPE SO INTERESTING AND LIVELY….BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY SHAPE YOU SYMBOLIZE IT WITH…WHEN YOU THINK OF A FISH IN WATER…SIMPLE AND MEANINGFUL…

  12. WOW…..ITS SUCH A LOVELY PLATTER…I WOULD JUST LOVE TO CALL THIS "AMBHASIKA"…IT MEANS AN AQUATIC BEING….LIVING IN WATER…..IN SANSKRIT….I THINK ITS PERFECT…CAN'T BE A BETTER NAME TO THIS DISTINCT PLATTER….IT JUST SO LIVELY AND EXUBERANT…FULL OF ENERGY…

  13. Chitachor- Stealer of the heart and mind!

Lovely platter…. i would suggest Coppre's "Jalashay" or "Tamra Jalashay". Tamra means copper and Jalashay means fish in sanskrit…. Sajna, Chennai

  15. wow looks amazing, hmmm I would call the lovely platter-"kamala driti" which roughly translates in Sanskrit to copper fish 😉

  16. Divya Dugar

What an eye catching piece. Back home in Rajasthan, my mother has a huge collection of copper utensils and this will be delightful addition to her collection. I would like to call it ' Molded Meen'.

  17. I would name it Fish me!

I go as Zatheela Abdul Rasheed on FACEBOOK

  18. The copper colour reminds me of Koi. So my name for this little fish dish is Koi.

I would like to name it as "Meenamma". To me it looks as gorgeous and as glamorous as Meenamma i.e. Deepika Padukone in Chennai Express

  20. I want to call it as ''The Mermaid dish''.

  21. Lovely piece. I would name it Meenalochani.

  22. Cindy

Flatfish – it's actually a group of fish and fits perfectly with this flat little platter.

  23. Courtney

Since Coppre is all about clean lines and timeless, easy products, I think something simple – but hopefully not too literal – could work: either CoppreFish or CopperFish.

  24. Simply 'matsya' for this one..short n sweet.

  25. The would love to call it "Mache' " which is fish in Nepalese. I like it because as it sounds similar to Bengali !

  26. Wanda (Great film "A Fish Called Wanda)

  27. Ambika Gautam

"The Little cuprum Fish". The name comes from The Little Black Fish which is one of the Classics of Persian Literature. The story is told through the voice of an old fish speaking to her 12,000 children and grandchildren. She describes the journey of a small black fish who leaves the safety of the local stream to venture into the world. The word "cuprum" is Latin for Copper. So the "The Little cuprum Fish" says it all!

  29. Nicus. (As in Coppre Nicus!)

  30. I would love to call it ' jal bin machali ' as this fish is without water

  31. Its a nice funny name "Humuhumu-nukunuku-apua‘a"or just 'humuhumu'. It means an hawaiian fish, a trigger fish with a nice snout.and a vivid coloration

  32. Swarnamatsya maybe also sundaramatsya meaning goldfish or beautiful fish respectively

  33. A simple "Surmai" which means kingfish in Hindi. Surmai sounds nice to me. The platter displayed here appears the 'king' of the collection

  34. Drawing inspiration from nature, this is beautiful! I'd name it 'Piscean Platter' 🙂

  35. I came across a fish's name 'catalina goby' – goby of course means 'fish'. But I am changing this and giving the name to this beautiful copper platter as 'coplina goby', a mixture of copper and fish. Aren't we all familiar with the trend to form one name from two couple names.. for eg. Brangelina and Saifeena….so Coplina Goby itis. Howzzzat?

  36. What a lovely giveaway this time, so different from the giveaways before. My name for this beautiful piece displayed here is 'Wrasse'. It means fish with thick lips and strong teeth and powerful jaws, and these attributes apply to the copper platter too, as it has a thick border, strong in quality and a powerful piece..

  38. AYU is the perfect name because it means small fish and I love short simple yet stylish names. And the plate is small simple and stylish too…

  39. I love the word AYU. I feel it is THE name for this nice copper fish. AYU means small fish and I love short simple yet stylish names as is the plate i.e. small simple and stylish
