All that color!

I am still recuperating from the mad revelry and color onslaught of Holi – the fun festival that was celebrated in India this weekend. What a weekend it was! With Holi, Easter, Eid Milad and Navroze being celebrated all over the world!

Colored powder called Gulal used to play Holi. Yes, it is smeared on people’s faces, hair and everywhere else!

Glimpses of Holi celebrations in old Indian paintings…
Lord Krishna and Radha are popular icons for Holi in Indian mythology

And, Holi spirit and colors captured very well by Steve McCurry

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

  1. Ha ha! Shireena, that reminded me of the time when I was a kid, and my sister and I would start playing Holi a week back before the actual festival. Our neighbors actually had to figure out an alternate route to avoid crossing the road below our terrace and get drenched in colored water 😉

  2. Hi Ashley! well, its a good idea you did not attend a holi party, specially before a wedding party
:-)….quite a many times, it becomes tough to remove all traces of color!

  3. Hi Bhavna, Sounds like you had such a fun colorful weekend! (I’m so jealous.) I think my neighbors here in New York would have begun to wonder about me (more than they already do) if I started throwing colored powder on them in celebration. Until I live there, I’ll just have to live vicariously through others. 🙂

  4. I have enjoyed your blog posts very much.
